Man, where does one even start with this album... aside from both killing one genre and birthing another in the same turn, it's probably one of the most influential albums of all time. It's bold, unapologetic, and fierce, but also self-aware and possesses a kind of lamenting desire for a time and place the artists already knew was too far gone to remain home. I'm sure that doesn't make a lot of sense if you haven't heard it, but if you're a fan of Refused and post-hardcore music, I'm sure that will track. This is one of the definitive albums of hardcore music as an art form, and while it may favor polish and production a bit over bite as compared to Refused's sophomoric record, Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent, it is an album that shaped an entire generation of sound while simultaneously memorializing another. Beyond a must listen, this is a must have for any fan of hardcore music!
