One of my favorite musical geniuses Poo Bear showed up on my TL during my late night scroll. In this clip of his podcast he’s talking about how Justin Bieber made him believe in his greatness at 36 years old. Naturally, I ran to listen to my favorite song by both of them: “Angels Speak.” There aren’t many records that make me feel emotional every time I listen to them, but this is one of them. “ Your voice is music to my ears, I'm wide awake/ Stuck on the way your frequencies resonate/ You say that no matter what, you're watchin over me/ I knew when I first read your lips, only angels speak like this” POETRY. When I tell you it stopped me in my tracks. It’s an understatement to say that this is such a beautiful way to sing about the love of your life. They say true love is an ineffable experience but Justin found not only the perfect words but the melody to match. And in part, we have Poo Bear to thank for that (whose beautiful voice is also featured on this track). After his part, the way he adlibs Justin through the outro is easily one of my favorite aspects of the song. Butterrrrrrr This song singlehandedly is why I indulge in deluxes cuz they really do be havin songs that put the rest of the album to shame!! And for the record, I’ve kept the song on loop as I write because that’s just how infectious it is. Every element from the heartmelting lyrics to the resonant melodies to the minimalist but effective instrumental to the goosebump-inducing delivery mesmerizes me. Anyway, I’m tired and rambling but I genuinely can’t express enough how much this song means to me and if love don’t feel like this I don’t want it!! I commented in jest that I need PB & JB to perform this song at my wedding but I’m deadass. P.S. Hailey, what was the prayer??? P.P.S.
